NBC Nightly News wins the week by a 1.39 million lead over ABC

nbc-nightly-news“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of June 22-28, 2009 in all categories, according to Nielsen Media Research data. During the week, the Williams-led newscast averaged 8.379 million total viewers, an impressive 1.385 million more than ABC “World News’” 6.994 million, and +2.813 million more than CBS “Evening News’” 5.566 million. Season-to-date, “Nightly” tops “World News” by +813,000 viewers.

“Nightly” has won for 37 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and for 31 straight weeks in A25-54.

Among the key demographic adults 25-54, “Nightly News” delivered a 2.1 rating, topping ABC’s 1.6 rating and CBS’ 1.3 rating. “Nightly” led “World News” by +628K A25-54 viewers for the week. Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +325,000 A25-54 viewers.

In homes, “Nightly News” was No. 1 with a 5.6 rating and a 12 share. Second place ABC drew a 4.7/10 and CBS placed third delivering a 3.7/8. On its digital platforms, “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” continued its strong performance with more than 7.8 million online streams for the week ending June 27, 2009.
