NBC Nightly News wins the week of August 24-30

nbc-nightly-newsAccording to Nielsen Media Research data, “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of August 24-30, 2009. During the week, “Nightly” delivered 7.860 million total viewers, +776K more than ABC “World News’” 7.084 million, and +2.471 million more than CBS “Evening News’” 5.389 million. Season-to-date, “Nightly” is the only evening newscast to increase in total viewers and tops “World News” by +812,000 viewers.

ABC is based on a four-day average with Friday excluded.

“Nightly” has won for 46 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and for 40 straight weeks in A25-54.

Among the key demographic adults 25-54, “Nightly News” delivered a 2.0 rating – its best rating since the week of June 29, 2009, ahead of ABC’s 1.6 rating and CBS’ 1.3 rating. “Nightly” led “World News” by +501K in the key A25-54 demo for the week – its best advantage since the week of June 29, 2009. Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +328,000 A25-54 viewers.

In homes, “Nightly News” won by increasing to a 5.3 rating and a 11 share. In second place ABC drew a 4.8/10, and CBS posted a 3.7/8.

On its digital platforms, “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” continued its strong performance with more than 3.9 million online streams for the week ending August 29, 2009.
