Yasmin Namini appointed GM, NYT, Readers Applications

New York:The New York Times Media Group has announced that effective immediately Yasmin Namini will add the responsibilities of general manager, reader applications, to her role as senior vice president, marketing and circulation. As general manager, reader applications, she will oversee a new division that will give an operational and financial home to The Times’s products that offer a digital reading experience similar to a print platform. She will continue to report to Scott Heekin-Canedy, president and general manager, The New York Times.

In making the announcement, Mr. Heekin-Canedy said, “Over the past four years, Yasmin has brought outstanding leadership to our circulation, marketing and research, and has masterfully overseen the development and marketing of our reader application products and business relationships through the start-up stage. She is viewed as a leader in the industry in all of these respects. Under Yasmin’s leadership we look forward to continued growth in this new and important aspect of our business.”

Ms. Namini was named senior vice president, circulation, The New York Times Media Group, in 2006 and to her current position in June 2007. Previously, she was chief customer officer for the New England Media Group since 2005. Before that, she served as senior vice president, consumer marketing at the New England Newspaper Group and senior vice president, circulation at The Boston Globe since 2000. Previously she served as vice president, circulation marketing at The New York Times since 1999.

Ms. Namini joined The Times in 1984 in the circulation department and held positions of increasing responsibility in sales, marketing, planning and product development. She received a B.S. degree in psychology from the University of Maryland and a Master’s degree in applied statistics from Villanova University.

Ms. Namini currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Newsmedia Marketing Association, the Times Square Alliance and the Boston Children’s Museum.
