The Guardian Student Media awards launch today for 2010. The awards have been supporting the most talented and creative young journalists for over 30 years. Past winners, including high profile writers such as Andrew Rawnsley, Jonathan Freedland and Emily Barr, have all gone on to have successful careers within the industry. Enter the awards now for a chance to launch your media career.
Acknowledging the growth of social media, the awards have a new category to engage with online developments. Students can now enter their blogs and twitter feeds in the digital journalist of the year category, which means that students can enter their work if it hasn’t been published in their student newspaper or worked on their student radio station. Each winner will receive a months work experience placement at the Guardian.
The six categories that you can enter this year are:
Publication of the Year
Reporter of the Year
Writer of the Year
Photographer of the Year
Digital Journalist of the Year in association with NME.com
Broadcast Journalist of the Year
