Toronto: Michael Szego , VP, head of planning of Draftfcb Toronto, has announced that the agency has made a significant hire, and an important addition to its Planning team.
Laurie Dillon-Schalk joins the agency as planning director, digital. Previously, Dillon-Schalk was director of digital strategy & innovation with JWT Canada. She brings deep experience in the strategic uses of digital media to Draftfcb, particularly in developing social brands and the teams that manage them, with companies like Wal-Mart, Brand USA (U.S. Travel and Tourism), HSBC and prior to JWT, at WestJet, where she was Digital Strategy Director of E-commerce; and at IBM, where she spent eight years in emerging technology.
“Laurie is one of those rare, deep digital thought leaders that are so hard to find these days and she fills a key role for our clients,” said Szego. “Her experience in digital, social and mobile, on both the agency and marketing sides, is extremely valuable for the kinds of brands we work with.”
“When we first met, it was clear Laurie shared our philosophy around total digital integration. Of course, it didn’t hurt that her reputation and profile in the Canadian digital market is outstanding,” continued Szego.
“I’m thrilled to join the Draftfcb Planning team,” said Dillon-Schalk. “An enviable client roster, an integrated model and the collaborative culture make Draftfcb well positioned to deliver on the full potential that digital, social and mobile can bring to integrated marketing,” she said, adding, “they also have a killer coffee bar”.
