Atlanta : Calysto, a global marketing communications agency specializing in raising awareness through content services, social media and public relations for the mobile and telecom industries, announced today that it has broadened its service offerings to provide a full array of content development and social media marketing services to its clients that complement traditional PR offerings.

Calysto also announced that it has appointed Jason Meyers as Chief Content Officer and Scott Samele as Chief Digital Media Officer. As part of the new positioning of Calysto, the agency also introduced a new logo and identity and a newly redesigned website.

The moves are part of Calysto’s new strategy to equip its clients to be their own publishers to showcase their expertise and industry thought leadership, and to leverage social media engines to amplify that content. The strategy formalizes Calysto’s long-time leadership position in providing concentrated, credible strategic guidance to mobile and telecom industry companies through experienced, senior-level teams.

“Calysto has always been more than a PR firm, helping our clients deliver timely and relevant content has long been one of our strengths,” said Laura Borgstede, founder and CEO of Calysto. “This new direction greatly expands the categories of content we can deliver through teams of experienced journalists who are intimately familiar with the trends and technologies of these industries, and allows us to activate social media engines to further raise the profile of our clients among their key stakeholders.”

The new strategy complements Calysto’s ability to offer traditional PR content like press releases, messaging and contributed articles, adding a full-fledged suite of content services—including blog content, customer collateral, e-books, e-mail newsletters and more. To amplify that content and deliver it to clients’ stakeholders, Calysto now offers a full array of social media marketing services, including blog strategy and execution, channel management and implementation, community management, SEO, monitoring and measurement, social advertising and more.

Jason Meyers, Chief Content Officer, leads the firm’s content services group. Meyers has more than 20 years of experience in the content realm, much of it leading the editorial staff of Telephony magazine, which for many years was considered the bible of the telecom industry. He also directed custom content initiatives for companies in the telecom sector and other industries as managing director of Penton Media’s custom content division. Most recently, Meyers oversaw content creation for a broader business audience as the executive editor of Entrepreneur magazine.

Scott Samele now heads the social media services group at Calysto. Samele, a 15-year veteran of telecom marketing, founded Tangelo, a hybrid PR firm that shows brands how to use social media to complement traditional PR programs. At Tangelo, Scott worked with technology firms like Metaswitch, Endace, Sonus and SS8. He also was client services director at branding consultancy OVO and a principal partner of Mavericks Group, a boutique digital marketing shop that managed campaigns for clients in the VoIP space.

“People like Jason and Scott have both chronicled the evolution of these industries and helped companies tell their stories through new and expanding social media channels,” Borgstede said. “Their expertise will help Calysto expand its unique position as the only agency with a concentration on the mobile and telecom sectors and help us drive our clients success in content and social media marketing.”
